TICKING SOUND IN EAR/JAW
Ah!! My jaw hurts!
Jaw popping or clicking can be painful feeling which is caused by dysfunction of TMJ(Tempero-mandibular joint)
Q1-Why does my jaw click when I eat?

And If Yes,then you are checking the right stuff here.Such problems may arise in anyone which should be taken care from the day one ,so this may not further increase the problem.
You may feel near your jaw some strange ticking sound whenever you close and open your mouth or when you eat you feel that sound has increased more often.
This can be of two types.So you need to judge and differentiate it better where is the particular area you are encountering it.
Firstly,it may be in your ear that's the point.
Second can be your jaw.
1-If the problem is in the ear it is mainly due to dysfunction of Eustachian Tube which may be caused by any allergies ,cold etc.This dysfunction can cause crackling or popping noise in your ears whenever you open or close your mouth.
2-Tinnitus,a ringing, throbbing ,buzzing like sound which can be caused by any medication,prolong disease of ear,trauma to ear,etc.
How to deal with it??
Well all you need is to consult your ENT as quick as you can to eradicate the problem.
Now the second common site is TMJ.
Tempero-mandibular joint is responsible for your ability to chew food,when you talk,speak,yawn,laugh out loud or when you widely open your mouth.The hinge action of TMJ works here.So any dysfunction to this joint or when it's not working properly , popping or clicking sound can occur.
Other possibilities may be if your chewing gums very often, grinding your teeth, clenching your jaw and thrusting your jaw outside.Frequently performing these habits can also cause the wear and tear of the joint.
How to treat this problem?
Well,keep in mind that for most people,discomfort from TMJ will eventually go away on its own.
•Simple exercises may help like to reduce clenching habit can be effective in easy TMJ symptoms.
•Somehow if your jaw gets unlock or stucked while you were yawning or at the time of any loud spoken act then what you will do?
1-Apply a heat pack or warm compression.
2-Knead your jaw with your fingers.
3-Put pressure on your jaw bone.
4-Use your hands to wiggle your jaw from side to side.
5-Massage your jaw once or twice a day.
And of course consult your DENTIST for the best conservative TMJ treatment.
